The angels swoop and dive, and Tanner takes another hit to the temple; he collapses, unconscious.

Eve looked up from the smashed remains of her fairy prey only to find herself surrounded by very angry gnomes. She had never liked gnomes. She didn't sell them at her store, they had no place in a garden. She took a step toward them, ready to kick some more ass, and wobbled uncertainly, vision blurring a little.

Oh, she thought, watching the closest gnome raise a tiny weapon to strike. Darkness crept in at the edges of her vision.

She bunched her hindquarters, preparing to jump right over them and back toward where Doc was swinging and stomping, but she felt the sharp bite of a new wound just before she sprang. Her jump botched, and she wobbled down to the floor, head spinning now as she wriggled free, only to feel another stab.

Sorry guys, she thought as the darkness swept in. She was not sure if Doc would even hear her.

The last thing she heard was the angry clatter and swish of something sweeping on the floor all around her, and then nothing but cold, silent, black.

Event: The Soleil House - Page 5 Empty Event Update: New Action Options

Play continues in Initiative Order; New Actions available are as follows:

Unconscious characters may roll a Fortitude: Wake check
Conscious characters may attempt an Intellect: Assist & Stabilize check
Conscious characters may engage in a Combat: Retreat action


Fortitude: Wake check
Target Number=16

Roll 1d10, add Fortitude & any applicable bonus (Round or Stabilized)
  • For each round in which a character fails to hit the target number, they lose 1 permanent health point.
  • For each round in which a character remains unconscious, they get a +1 bonus to wake up (Round bonus).
  • When a character hits the target number, they wake up immediately, with their Round bonus in temporary HP (minimum 1 Temporary HP).
  • If a character has been Stabilized by a teammate, they receive a +2 bonus to their Fortitude: Wake check.



Intellect: Assist & Stabilize
Target Number=16

Roll 1d10, add Intellect and any applicable bonus (Training or Supplies)
  • A success Stabilizes an Unconscious character, and prevents the loss of Permanent Health Points while Unconscious. A failed roll has no effect.
  • Formal medical training provides a +4 bonus to attempt to Stabilize.
  • Medical supplies provide a +2 bonus to attempt to Stabilize.




Combat: Retreat
Characters may engage in defensive fighting.

Characters may move Six Squares and retain one Attack Action at a -2 to hit, provided they are not encumbered by carrying an unconscious team member.
Characters who are so encumbered may move Three Squares and retain an Attack Action at a -4, OR they can move Six Squares and take no Attack Action, OR they may take a defensive Attack Action at a -2.

Smarting from a hit from one of the fairies, Lilybeth was reading her second slingshot when she saw Tanner start to topple. She could only hit one opponent at a time with those, and meanwhile her team was getting hurt!. Time to try a broad-spectrum approach.

She drew a jet of water out of the now-flowing faucet, and blasted it toward the fairies and angels--they sputtered and flew in circles, but none went down. Still, she was able to use their confusion to duck.

Tanner's Fortitude: Wake check

10+8+0=18, SUCCESS

With a pounding head and a definite sense of disorientation, Tanner blinked himself back into alertness. There were bits of ceramic under his hands and in front of his nose, and he could see a cheerfully grinning gnome entirely too close to his face. The last thing he'd heard before he'd hit the floor was Isabelle ordering them to get to the far side of the stairs; disoriented though he still was, he pushed himself up, taking his bat with him, and lurched a few haphazard steps, because he didn't need to know what he was doing.

He had instructions, all he needed to do was follow them.

And thank Heaven for that.

((Tanner makes a half-move; he steps one square forward and two squares to the left. He is now occupying square H9.))

The fairies swoop back and forth, clearly uncertain about the water, or who to attack as the party moves. One of them manages to rake Doc, but the rest are ineffective.

The remaining gnomes attempt to pursue Tanner, but do not get close enough to attack.

For a sickening few seconds after Tanner went down, the music stopped. The absence realistically should have been a relief from the constant pressure, but all Riesy could feel was the yawning vacuum of silence against shiz skin. "But the Light didn't go out," s/he croaked, watching the little ball glow steadily.

Then there was water spraying from behind shim and Tanner was groaning and leveraging himself up from the ground and Isabelle's order processed through the start of the music once more. It was awful, sideways stuff that should have hurt but Riesy's relief made rocking back on shiz feet and kicking shiz bag at the last little animal monster easy, rolling it out of the way so s/he could race after Tanner, Eve still cradled in shiz arms.

“Come on people! We need to get out of here!” Isabelle shouted, frustrated and scared for her team. “Doc, that cat’ll be pissed if you’re not there when she wakes up! We need to get into a room and close the door to keep these creepy little things out! I am slamming it and I will leave you out here with them! Come ON!”

Izzy aimed a kick at the closest little ceramic monster but missed, headed for the safety of the doors on the other side of the stairs.

(Ath 7) + 3 -2 = 8
