Re: Event: Target
With everyone safely across Isabelle considered trying to calm her heart enough to pop her bubble but then decided fuck it and decided she'd be thinking scary thoughts before any crossing in the future.
"So I'm going to need a little help with the ladders, guys," she waved her hands to encompass her shield.

Re: Event: Target
Tanner felt his stomach drop when Isabelle started to lose her balance, but he hadn’t managed to do more than think oh, shit before her Trouble was activating, and she balanced, caught safely above the sinking sand, the edge of the bubble tossing Riesy back and into him.
And Riesy started to push, lunging forward, and Tanner didn’t think, just clamped his arms around her waist and held, yanking her to a stop and keeping her from approaching the edge again, keeping her from going anywhere near the aisle.
“Do not,” he said, the words more an exhalation than a statement, and he pulled Riesy a step back, just- to be sure.
“Ladders,” he said, managing to actually put sound in those words, “Ladders are just- over here.” He indicated with a tilt of his head, not yet willing to let go of Riesy.

Doc headed over to the section indicated. "Just one, or we want spares?"

Re: Event: Target
Riesy shrugged Tanner off, actually feeling his breath against her neck, not willing to acknowledge the salty taste of it, feeling pugnacious and vindicated, glaring a challenge at him before huffing away when s/he couldn't hold it anymore.
S/he flicked Doc off where no one else could see under shiz brilliant smile, daring him to comment as s/he walked past him to look up at the twenty footers. "We should take two. Lie them side by side."

Doc nodded. "You know ladders, pick a couple good ones and I'll carry 'em."

"Look for U-line..." Riesy said absently, pacing down the aisle. "It'll be orange. Like aggressively orange."

<Do you need me to move so you can carry them?> Eve asked, ready to hop down if needed.

"Nah, I'll just carry 'em on my other shoulder," Doc told her.

Re: Event: Target
Tanner resisted for just an instant, not keen on letting Riesy pull away; but it wasn’t- he yielded, reluctantly, let her pull free and met her glare with a mulish set of his jaw and a stubborn refusal to be the one to look down this time. At least she seemed to be concentrating on the task, and not leaping directly back towards danger, and that- well. That was what they were supposed to be doing, what he should be doing, so he pulled himself together and followed Riesy and Doc to provide whatever help he could.

Re: Event: Target
Isabelle watched Doc lift the ladder with very little effort and prop it on his shoulder, easily balancing the awkward load and more than that maneuvering it through the section with grace. She had to admit she was a little envious. She met his eyes and gave him an "after you" hand gesture. "Let's blow this popsicle stand," she told the other three, waiting til they had fallen in line before bringing up the rear.

Re: Event: Target
When Doc reached the edge of the section, he lay the ladders across the gap. "Anyone who wants to can use 'em." As for himself, he had no intention of trusting his wait to them until he absolutely had to.

Re: Event: Target
Riesy easily hopped and flipped across the first time, knowing the grip and space s/he needed to occupy on a ladder better than s/he knew how to walk, probably. S/he stayed on shiz knees to anchor the ladder in place for everyone else. S/he was absolutely ready to get out of there.

Lilybeth jumped, wincing as she slid a little on her landing.

Re: Event: Target
Doc went over the aisle as well, using the red square as the usual stepping stone and avoiding the ladder.

Re: Event: Target
Isabelle would like to be smug as she rolls across the aisle in her bubble but she also would like to stay alive so she looks at the ground and thinks about the sickening second when the quicksand closed around her boot and hustles across to the next side still sufficiently scared enough to remain en-bubbled.
"Okay, so I think the best plan is make it across to Music across the aisle and then we angle the ladder and we're out. Anybody got any complaints?"

"Sounds good," Doc agreed, ready to be out of there as well - and to have vulnerable Eve away form the quicksand, too.

Re: Event: Target
Tanner headed across the aisle, distracted enough to once again nearly put a foot wrong, catching himself at the last moment. He shook his head, annoyed at himself; he’d spent how long on how many teams playing how many sports, and he couldn’t manage walking in a fashion that didn’t risk disaster?
But he managed, and everyone was still standing, and they had a plan.
“No, ma’am,” he said, when Isabelle asked if there were any complaints- the plan sounded fine to him, and he would be very, very glad to be out of this store.

Lilybeth shook her head emphatically--anything that got them out faster was fine by her.

"Well let's fuckin' go," Riesy said, hauling the ladder across the space between and hefting it shimself.
